Continuous Amps (Ir) For example, a 1000 amp breaker can be changed from 1000 amps to 800 amps by adjusting the breaker continuous amps setting to 80% 2. Long-Time Delay Long-time delay causes the breaker to wait a certain amount of time to allow temporary inrush currents, such as those encountered when starting a motor, to pass without tripping. The adjustment is from 2.2 to 27 seconds at six times the continuous amps (Ir) setting. 3. Short-Time Pickup Short-time pickup is used for selective tripping. The short-time pickup function determines the amount of current the breaker will carry for a short period of time, allowing downstream protective devices to clear short-circuits without tripping the upstream device. Short-time pickup is adjustable from 1.5 to 10 times the trip unit ampere setting (Ir). For example, a 1000 ampere frame can be adjusted to trip anywhere from 1500 to 10,000 amps. The switch also has an “OFF” position to eliminate short-time pickup and short-time delay. 4. Short-Time Delay Short-time delay, used in conjunction with short-time pickup, controls the time involved in postponing a short-time pickup trip. There are two modes: fixed time, or I2T ramp. Fixed time is adjustable from .05 to .5 seconds. The I2T ramp mode is adjustable from .18 seconds to .45 seconds, providing a short inverse time ramp. This allows better coordination with downstream thermal-magnetic circuit breakers and fuses. A fixed instantaneous trip point of 10,000 amps trips the breaker automatically and overrides any pre-programmed instructions. 5. Instantaneous Pick up If the continuous amp setting had been 300 amps, setting the instantaneous pickup at 10 would make the instantaneous setting equal to 3000 amps, well below the fixed instantaneous override. 6. Ground Fault Pickup Ground fault pickup controls the amount of ground fault current that will cause the breaker to interrupt the circuit. The adjustment can be set from 20 to 70% of the maximum breaker rating. In compliance with NEC® 230-95 (A), no trip point setting exceeds 1200 amps. The ground fault pickup is divided into three sections; .1s, .2s, and .4s. This feature adds a time delay of .1, .2, or .4 seconds to the breaker’s trip when a ground fault occurs. (A) I2t OFF: Gives Constant time delay usually in multiplication of 0.5 sec. It has not inverse-time delay Characteristic. It is used for coordination with other circuit breakers with electronic trip devices and for coordination with thermal-magnetic circuit breakers. In den meisten Unternehmen wird ein Data Hub aufgebaut, an das dann Visualisierungstools wie Tableau oder Power BI geschlossen werden. Bei Siemens allerdings gibt es Analytics Unlocked, eine komplette Eigenentwicklung, an der bis zu 15 Entwickler:innen beteiligt waren und wofür Timo die Rolle des Product Owners übernimmt. Für Timo ist das Tool eine große Erleichterung, welches die Möglichkeit eröffnet, alle Mitarbeiter:innen so durch das Tool zu leiten, dass sie genau die Zugänge und Daten erhalten, die sie brauchen. Das Tool ist sogar so individualisiert, dass die entsprechenden Rollen Notifications darüber erhalten, wenn für sie nötige Daten ankommen. Die Entwicklung eines Tools dieser Art ist nur möglich, wenn eine gewisse Größe an Unternehmen vorhanden ist, das sagt Timo ganz klar. Aber auch Vorsicht ist geboten: In den vielen Möglichkeiten kann man sich schnell verlieren. Das Wichtigste für Timo und gleichzeitig der größte Fail ist es, genug mit den Menschen zu reden, welche die Daten nutzen. Ein kurzer Kaffee-Talk und die Frage nach den Anforderungen helfen ihm, die richtigen Dashboards zu erstellen. Abstract Cybersecurity is gaining more and more attention over the last years. In this talk we will briefly motivate and discuss important steps that companies need to take to address this topic. Our talk will address the product security lifecycle based on the OWASP Software Assurance Maturity Level. Towards the end of our talk we will shift our focus to secure coding as an important milestone of software development. We will also briefly introduce CyberSecurity Challenges – a new serious game to raise awareness of secure coding for software developers in the industry. This game has been developed at Siemens in partnership with academia, and will be offered as an hands-on event. About Tiago Gasiba Tiago Gasiba has been awarded the Engineering degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, and Computers from Oporto University in 2002. In 2004 he completed his Master of Science in Communications Engineering at the Technical University of Munich. He is currently finalizing his PhD (Dr.rer.nat) at the Universität der Bundeswehr München. Tiago Gasiba has published more than thirty papers on the topics of channel coding and serious games for Cybersecurity in international scientific conferences. He holds several patents in the field of cyber security, and he has more than twenty years of experience in the industry. Tiago Gasiba has been invited as a guest lecturer at the University of Passau, Iscte in Portugal, and UniBW in Germany. In his current role, Tiago Gasiba works as a security trainer and is responsible for several workshops on security awareness and secure software development, as part of his role on secure software enablement at Siemens. About Santiago Suppan Santiago Suppan was awarded the grade of Master of Science in business informatics with honors by the University of Regensburg and the Bavarian Elite Network in 2012. In 2018, he finished his doctorate studies (Dr. rer. pol.) within the University of Regensburg and after being granted a doctorate scholarship by Siemens AG Corporate Technology, where he accompanied several funded research projects and researched security in industrial systems, the smart grid, privacy by design and privacy-enhancing technologies in the area of the Internet of Things (focus area), holding academic publications and industry patents. The keynote speaker for the 2015 UFTL is George Siemens, Ph.D., an internationally known educator, theorist, and researcher on learning in the digital age. In additional to authoring numerous articles on open education, ePortfolios, and learning analytics, he has published two books: Connectivism: A Learning Theory for the Digital Age and Knowing Knowledge. Since 2013, Siemens has served as the Executive Director of the LINK Lab at the University of Texas at Arlington, where he and participants explore how traditional universities’ role is affected by online learning and the growing influence of data and analytics on higher education practices. The use of data to improve organizational performance has been demonstrated in business, healthcare, and other sectors. In higher education, learning analytics show potential for similar impact in understanding granular learning (impact of specific activities engaged in during the learning process) and large scale performance (systemic effectiveness and competitiveness with peer institutions). This presentation will explore how learning analytics is contributing to the development of the learning sciences as well systemic change and institutional effectiveness in serving student needs.

Sipho Nzama, a Systems Architecture Engineer for Siemens, takes us through the process at the Interlocking Testing Facility. --- Interlocking Testing Facility: As part of the project, and with the localisation in mind, Siemens has invested in an Interlocking Testing Facility (ITF) at the Northriding facility. Siemens is the first company in the southern hemisphere to introduce a test facility at this scale. The ITF is used for Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) before commissioning and fault finding on already commissioned stations. The procedures in the ITF will test both hardware, delivered form the factory, and software, delivered from the engineering team. The hardware and software tests are done independently to reduce reliance on one another during FAT. The hardware or indoor equipment, such as the control racks and axle counter racks, go through a rigorous Factory Acceptance Test before being released to site. As the testing is done independently, the indoor equipment can be completed early to build up an equipment buffer for project execution in case the project schedule changes. For software testing, the ITF has been successful in digitising the test process. Permanent racks, with specialised modules, simulate the trackside equipment (Signals, Points and Axle Counter Heads) defined by each station configuration. Desktop computers with special software programs are used to test the system. This set-up reduces the testing set-up times significantly as the ITF test engineers can configure any station without having to dismantle and assemble hardware destined for site. During the software testing, train movements are simulated as well as equipment failures and site conditions. The ability to simulate various scenarios increases the scope of testing done during FAT, which results in less testing on site. Once the software FAT has been completed and passed, the tested station is ready for site commissioning. Through digitisation, the ITF has provided numerous benefits for the project. The ITF can be easily configured to match any specific PRASA or Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) station. It has the capability of testing 3 stations simultaneously and has reduced testing times by 40 to 50 percent depending the size of the station. Additional testing procedures can be performed in the ITF, which results in reduced testing time on site. The installation can be used for the training of personnel with simulated real-life installation without interfering with working installations. Mayors from around the country met to discuss a broad range of policy issues impacting infrastructure and education reform. Siemens Industry, Inc. CEO Daryl Dulaney spoke about how city budgets are as tight as they've ever been, yet never have cities been more in need of investing in their futures. He talked about some of the unacceptable consequences cities face if they don't make investments - black outs, surges in carbon emissions, water shortages and overworked healthcare systems, to name a few. He did offer some insight of how cities can overcome these challenges. He told how Siemens helped the City of Houston reduce its energy costs by $19.5 million without spending a single penny!
